As per Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins and forward Trent Frederic are at odds, with a $1.5 million difference in their arbitration filings. Frederic's player-elected arbitration hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Bruins offered a two-year, $1.4 million contract, while Frederic and his agent filed for a one-year deal at a $2.9 million cap hit. Frederic, coming off a career year, posted impressive stats with 31 points in 79 games.

Additionally, Bruins' restricted free agent goalie Jeremy Swayman faced a similar situation, being $2.8 million apart from the team in their arbitration filings. The Bruins offered one year at $2 million, whereas Swayman's camp sought one year at $4.8 million.

With approximately $5.4 million in salary cap space and possible arbitration adjustments, the Bruins may need to explore trade options to balance their roster.

General manager Don Sweeney will likely look for ways to free up cap space to accommodate potential contracts for both players and stay compliant with the salary cap.
