The Edmonton Oilers had a successful season for the first time in a long time when they advanced to the Western Conference Final but were ultimately swept by the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche.

With the best player in the world in Connor McDavid and another top-five in Leon Draisaitl (both entering their primes), the time to win is now.

Oilers general manager Ken Holland has had a successful offseason so far. He's brought in a number one goalie in Jack Campbell, depth scoring in Mattias Janmark, and has signed RFAs Jesse Puljujarvi, Kailer Yamamoto and Tyler Benson to extensions.

The Oilers lost two veterans from last season as Duncan Keith retired from the NHL, and Mike Smith is heading to the LTIR and most likely retirement as well. However, Holland now has his eyes on two other UFA veterans to come help his club out.

As per oilersnation.com and The Hockey News, the club is linked to veteran Phil Kessel:

Oilers Nation also has the club linked to UFA defenseman PK Subban, as well as David Staples of the Edmonton Journal:

''Edmonton is the most likely destination for Kessel ahead of Arizona, Minnesota, Calgary, Winnipeg and Chicago. When it comes to Subban, the Oilers are again the favourites – ahead of Nashville, New Jersey, Montreal, Buffalo and Dallas.''
