Former Bruin Legend Joining Coaching Staff

The Columbus Blue Jackets have welcomed a familiar face to their coaching staff, with Mark Recchi joining Head Coach Pascal Vincent's team as an assistant coach. Recchi, a seasoned NHL veteran, brings over three decades of hockey experience to the role, having spent 10 seasons as a player with various NHL teams and five years as an assistant coach for the Penguins and Devils.

Head Coach Pascal Vincent expressed his enthusiasm, saying,

«Mark Recchi has been part of the National Hockey League for over three decades and brings an incredible amount of experience to our staff. He is a Hall of Fame player who won three Stanley Cup championships, which, combined with his coaching experience, will make him a great resource for our players. We are excited to have him in Columbus.»

Vincent also highlighted Recchi's expertise in the offensive zone and on the power play, emphasizing how valuable this knowledge will be for the team.

Recchi's impressive playing career spanned 1,652 games, during which he amassed 1,533 points. He achieved several accolades, including seven All-Star appearances and three Stanley Cup championships with different teams. In 2017, he was rightfully inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Following his playing days, Recchi took on various roles in the hockey world, including serving as a senior adviser with the Dallas Stars and contributing to the Pittsburgh Penguins' coaching staff during their 2016 and 2017 Stanley Cup victories. He later joined the New Jersey Devils' coaching staff in 2020, further enhancing his coaching experience.

Notably, Recchi has also been part-owner of the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers since 2007, connecting him with his roots as a player in the WHL. His wealth of knowledge and passion for the game make him a valuable addition to the Columbus Blue Jackets' coaching staff.
