Jim Montgomery the Latest Bruin to Make NHL History

In a season full of records for the Boston Bruins, head coach Jim Montgomery was the latest to make league history after the team's win on Saturday.

Alone at Top of the Record Books



With a 4-3 win over the Penguins this afternoon, the Bruins improved to 59-12-5 on the season, and Montgomery set a new league record.




The 59 wins for Montgomery beats the previous record set by Mike Babcock, who won 58 games in his first year with the Detroit Red Wings in 2005-06.

He previously broke the franchise record for the most wins by a coach in his first season on Thursday against the Blue Jackets. The record of 57, was first set by Tom Johnson during the 1970-71 season.
