When Don Sweeney took over as the GM of the Boston Bruins in 2015 and his first job was the 2015 NHL Draft, and unfortunately, we all know what happened.

After trading RFA Dougie Hamilton and Milan Lucic, Sweeney and the Bruins had three straight selections in the first round. That being the 14th, 15th and 16th overall in which they drafted Jakub Zboril, Jake Debrusk and Zachary Senyshyn.

The following picks were: Mathew Barzal to the New York Islanders, Kyle Connor to the Winnipeg Jets and Thomas Chabot to the Ottawa Senators.

The Deepest Draft in Recent Memory

Later in the draft went some other top end NHL players, such as:

Brock Boeser (23rd) - 302 P in 383 GP
Travis Konecny (24th) - 325 P in 480 GP
Sebastian Aho (35th) - 459 P in 506 GP
Roope Hintz (49th) - 235 P in 301 GP
Anthony Cirelli (72nd) - 183 P in 341 GP
Kirill Kaprizov (135th) - 233 P in 201 GP
Troy Terry (148th) - 167 P in 266 GP
Andrew Mangiapane (166th) - 166 P in 330 GP

In comparison, DeBrusk has collected 114 goals and 106 assists in 372 games for the Bruins. DeBrusk is the only one that hasn't ‘'disappointed'' from those three consecutive picks.

Zboril is also still in Boston and is finally (but slowly), becoming an NHL player. The defenseman has appeared in 70 games, collecting 14 points.

Senyshyn has struggled to getting an NHL career going. The forward has 1 goal and 2 assists in 16 career games (2 GP with OTT). Now with the Utica Comets, Senyshyn has registered 68 goals and 58 assists in 309 AHL games.
