Sean Avery faces serious allegations of domestic and child abuse
In a troubling turn of events, former NHL forward, Sean Avery, has found himself entangled in serious allegations from his estranged wife, Hilary Rhoda.
The 36-year-old Rhoda, who filed for divorce from Avery (43) last July, took a decisive step by obtaining a temporary restraining order against him, effectively preventing any contact with her or their 3-year-old son Nash.
According to a report by ET Canada, Rhoda has accused Avery of domestic abuse and child abuse, painting a distressing picture of their tumultuous relationship.
She recounted an incident from September 2022 when Avery was arrested for domestic battery, stating,
"He entered my house (even though I asked him not to), climbed into bed with me (twice), and wouldn't leave. He grabbed me by the arms and shook me, twice. I was very scared for my safety and called the police."
Since then, Rhoda claimed that Avery has been repeatedly loitering near her house, causing her distress.
"I am scared of Sean," the documents read, "and feel threatened by this behavior and his acts of physical violence."
Furthermore, Rhoda alleges that Avery's aggressive behavior extends beyond her, as he yells, swears, and engages in name-calling regularly.

She reveals that he follows her, attempting to provoke her, and has physically abused her and others. Shockingly, she claims that their young son Nash hasn't been spared from Avery's outbursts either.
Rhoda recalled an incident from June 2022 when Nash fell ill in the middle of the night, and Avery reacted aggressively, causing distress to both mother and son.
"Sean became irritated that our son woke up sick in the middle of the night. He screamed at me (in front of Nash) to go get Nash's 'f**king medicine,' and then aggressively punched the wall in Nash's bedroom and then punched our bedroom door. (Nash witnessed this and was scared and grabbing on to me)," Rhoda alleges. "Sean then followed me to the kitchen, and as I was trying to get Nash's medicine, he ripped the cabinet door open -- slamming my finger between the open cabinet and the wall. I was petrified of Sean and his physical and aggressive behavior."
In a heartbreaking disclosure, Rhoda adds that the next month,
«Avery body slammed Nash on his changing table," leaving the young child traumatized. "He cried uncontrollably and couldn't catch his breath," she reveals.
The allegations against Avery go even further, suggesting that he has endangered Nash's safety in various ways.
Rhoda claims, "Sean has screamed at Nash," and has acted recklessly with him in the car, not properly securing him in his car seat, and even exposing him to marijuana and cigarettes.
As the disturbing reports came to light, both Avery's and Rhoda's lawyers have declined to comment on the matter, leaving the public and the sports community deeply concerned about these serious accusations that have been levied against the once-celebrated NHL player, Sean Avery.
