Charlie McAvoy recently commented on Gary Bettman and the appeal process regarding his 4-game suspension, expressing disappointment with the outcome.

Following a high hit on Oliver Ekmund Larsson of the Florida Panthers, McAvoy faced a 4-game suspension, the consequence of an immediate in-game penalty and ejection. This marked McAvoy's first suspension since 2019.

Despite McAvoy's clean record in the previous years, a 4-game suspension for his hit on OEL prompted him to appeal the decision. Gary Bettman, however, upheld the suspension, leaving McAvoy dissatisfied.

McAvoy Publicly Challenges Gary Bettman Over 4-Game Suspension

In a media address, McAvoy voiced his discontent with the appeal process and criticized Gary Bettman for what he perceived as a lack of attentive consideration.

McAvoy argued that his case had strong comparables, yet the decision to maintain the 4-game suspension stood, with Bettman emphasizing the avoidability of the actions.

Expressing gratitude for the time taken by Mr. Bettman and his team, McAvoy stated,
"Thought we made some really good points.

We brought comparables to the table. I just want to get back on the ice & play hockey."
Despite advocating for a reduction to a 3-game suspension, McAvoy clarified that, ultimately, he has no control over the outcome.
