Amidst a turbulent season for the Chicago Blackhawks, injuries have taken a heavy toll on the majority of their cap-dollar-heavy roster, leaving them with a makeshift lineup against the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

For a rebuilding team with limited depth, the situation is challenging, and solutions seem elusive.

In response to the Blackhawks' predicament, a National Hockey League insider, Mark Lazerus, has proposed a bold strategy for the organization. Rather than seeking conventional remedies, Lazerus suggests injecting some nostalgia into the team by considering free agents Phil Kessel, Jaromir Jagr, and former captain Jonathan Toews.

OK, hear me out. Kyle Davidson's next three calls should be to:
1. Phil Kessel
2. Jonathan Toews.
3. Jaromir Jagr

Sell them tickets, baby.

To clarify, Lazerus isn't implying active pursuit of these players but speculates they could be targets as the Blackhawks strive to recover from their injury woes.

Among the suggested options, Phil Kessel emerges as the most plausible, given his expressed interest in returning to action this season. The veteran forward, currently an unrestricted free agent, has also signaled a willingness to prioritize team needs over his ironman streak if necessary.

On the other hand, the least realistic prospect appears to be Jonathan Toews. Having retired due to health reasons, Toews' decision to step away from the sport seems irreversible, especially considering the circumstances.

The wildcard in this scenario is the legendary Jaromir Jagr. Although absent from the NHL since the 2017-18 season, Jagr continues to play professionally in the Czech league with the Kladno Knights. While the idea of a return to the NHL at 51 may sound implausible, Jagr has built a career defying expectations, adding a touch of intrigue to this unconventional proposal.
