Yesterday, before facing off against the Ottawa Senators, the Bruins were one of the hottest teams in the NHL and have been one of the streakiest teams as well.

The Bruins ended up beginning the 2025-26 season with three straight wins under new head coach Marco Sturm. After that, they ended up losing six in a row, which was pretty embarrassing.
Before their game last night, the Bruins were on a seven-game winning streak, winning eight of their last nine games as well.

Bruins get a surprise ranking from ESPN

Due to how hot the Bruins were, ESPN released their first in-season NHL Power Rankings, and the Bruins got a surprise ranking.
ESPN listed the Boston Bruins 10th on their first in-season NHL Power Rankings of the year.
David Pastrnak has been a big reason the Bruins are ranked where they are right now and just recently scored his 400th career goal. Boston is now ranked No. 10 on NHL.com's "Super 16."
The «Super 16» is crafted when «the 15 voters first put together their own version of what they think the rankings should look like and a point total is assigned to each, with the team selected first given 16 points, second 15, third 14, and so on.»

Colorado is the first-placed team in the rankings with 240 points, with the New Jersey Devils being ranked second overall in the Eastern Conference with 200 points.
Boston currently sits at 103 points, just trailing the ninth-place team in Tampa Bay with 111, and just edging the Penguins with 97.
Unfortunately for the Bruins, their winning streak came to an end last night whenever they played the Ottawa Senators.
The Bruins ended up losing 5-3 after giving up the winning goal with just under 6 minutes remaining in regulation.
