Korpisalo was brought in to stabilize the crease behind Jeremy Swayman, but results have gone the opposite direction. Inconsistent performances and confidence issues have turned every start into a debate.

The frustration boiled over again after his latest appearance, reopening questions about how long the Bruins can carry this setup. For a team still pushing for playoff position, the margin for error in net is thin.
What makes the situation more pressing is what sits in Providence. The Bruins have legitimate AHL depth, and fans are increasingly vocal about wanting to see that depth actually used.
Michael DiPietro and Simon Zajicek have both shown strong stretches at the AHL level, giving Boston internal options that feel more appealing with each Korpisalo outing.
The Bruins now face two realistic paths. They can attempt to trade Korpisalo, likely at a loss, or place him on waivers and risk losing him for nothing or sending him to Providence. Neither option is painless.

It's time for the Boston Bruins to move on from Joonas Korpisalo

From a fan perspective, patience has evaporated. The argument is simple, if you have goaltending depth, you have to trust it at some point. Otherwise, it's just a talking point.
Waivers would be the boldest move, but also the clearest signal that performance matters. Sending Korpisalo down could reset both the crease and the message inside the room.
A trade, while cleaner on paper, is harder in reality. Korpisalo's recent play has cratered value, making any return modest at best. Still, cap flexibility alone might justify the move.
For head coach Marco Sturm and GM Don Sweeney, this is about protecting the team. Jeremy Swayman cannot play every night, but the Bruins also cannot afford nights where goaltending sinks them early.
This decision is coming, not someday, but soon. The Bruins are too deep into the season to wait for hope. Whether through waivers or a trade, change in the crease feels inevitable.
