An official offer is on the table for Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood

Elliotte Friedman reported Vancouver made Sherwood a new offer this week, and he still believes there's a sizable gap between the sides. He also said he doesn't have a trade timeline, which keeps everything in limbo.

That matters in Boston because Sherwood has been glued to the Bruins rumor mill for weeks. NESN, citing Chris Johnston of The Athletic, framed him as a strong stylistic fit, and The Hockey News also reported Boston interest via RG.

Sherwood is exactly the type of bet Boston tends to like at the deadline, speed, contact, and enough finishing to punish loose coverage. If Vancouver extends him, the Bruins lose a target they've clearly been tracking.

The contract details are why the market is so loud in the first place. Sherwood carries a $1.5 million cap hit, his deal expires at the end of 2025-26, and he's set to be a UFA.

He's also producing like a bargain. Sherwood has 17 goals and 21 points in 41 games.

As a Bruins fan, I hate when the perfect «Bruins-style» target might get signed before Boston even gets a real shot.

If Vancouver closes that gap and gets an extension done, Boston's pivot is pretty straightforward. You move on to the next impact winger who can forecheck, kill penalties, and still finish chances in tight.
