Patrice Bergeron got a little sentimental while meeting with the media in Montreal earlier today, as he possibly hinted at what his future in the NHL holds.
Implying Potential Retirement?
With Boston facing off against the Canadiens in the captain's 'hometown'' for their regular season finale tonight - and Bergeron near the end of his career - the veteran got emotional talking about his future in the NHL.
And one specific quote has fans thinking the Bruins captain was possibly hinting at this being the last season of his legendary career. See below:
''As you get older, you realize there's less games ahead of you than behind and you want to enjoy and appreciate every moment and every situation. Being back in my home province, I have some family members here tonight. It's very special.''
Of course, this could mean several things that I'm going to leave to your own personal opinion. However, based on the uncertainty following Bergeron last summer, retirement will obviously be a very real possibility, especially if the Bruins win the Stanley Cup.
A poetic send off as such, would be exactly what the 37-year-old Bergeron deserves, and the team has set themselves up perfectly for that this season.
Whenever he does decide to hang up the skates it won't ever be quite the same seeing the Bruins without the future Hall of Famer.
