With just under 2 months until the regular-season begins in the NHL, former Boston Bruins defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk still sits without a contract, and it's looking like he may not get one.
It's no secret that Kevin Shattenkirk is coming to the end of his career as he is 35-years old and is starting to regress, but it comes as a surprise to many that he is still without a contract especially considering what he could bring to a contending team.
Shattenkirk is still solid enough to be a 6th or 7th defenseman, and with that he also brings veteran leadership and playoff experience, as in 2019-20 he won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In 61 games with the Boston Bruins, Kevin Shattenkirk ended up with 6 goals, 18 assists for 24 points. Shattenkirk isn't a very offensive defenseman, but he is reliable and a solid depth defenseman.
