For a few uneasy minutes, the Bruins feared the worst as Morgan Geekie headed down the tunnel after a painful first-period block.

Early in the opening frame, Geekie sacrificed his body to block a hard shot, immediately drawing attention as he struggled through a test skate afterward.
Moments later, Geekie left the bench and headed to the Bruins locker room, with Michael Eyssimont jumping in to take his shift, a sight that never feels routine.
Given Geekie's importance to Boston's offense this season, the bench reaction felt tense, and the concern only grew as the period wound down.
When the Bruins returned for the second period without Geekie on the bench, panic set in among fans and teammates alike.
The absence was noticeable. Geekie has been Boston's most consistent scorer, driving offense with pace, confidence, and timely finishing.
He leads the Bruins in goals this season and has become a fixture in high leverage situations, making any potential injury especially alarming.
Then came the relief. Not long into the second period, Geekie returned to the ice during a Bruins power play, immediately settling nerves across the bench.

Boston Bruins dodge a big bullet

From a fan perspective, this felt like a bullet dodged in real time.
Losing Geekie, even temporarily, would have compounded an already challenging injury picture for Boston, especially given his role as a top-line driver.
Geekie did not just return to take a token shift. He jumped right back into special teams work, signaling confidence in his ability to continue.
