A Boston Bruins legend issued a statement towards Bruins defensemen Charlie McAvoy.

Charlie McAvoy faced a lot of backlash from fans following his playoff performance this year especially after the Boston Bruins were knocked out of the second-round by the Florida Panthers.

McAvoy had a hard time finding the back of the net during the playoffs, but would finally score in game 5 against the Florida Panthers which would be the game winning goal for the Boston Bruins as they would take the game 3-1 and force a game 6.

His goal was his only point during the series against the Florida Panthers and faced some backlash from fans after putting together an impressive regular-season.

Bruins legend Ray Bourque backed up Charlie McAvoy after appearing on The Sick Podcast - The Eye Test.

«I think the ceiling is unlimited for him and that's a part of the problem,» Bourque said. «He's so talented in all areas. Charlie sometimes, I think, he tried to do too much, and he cares so much. Sometime less would be more. I would take him on my team any day. He's an amazing talent, he's a great kid, he works hard, and he cares.»

«Playing (defenseman) is not easy and (the Bruins) had to go through Florida, another team that makes it really hard on you as a defenseman and doesn't give you much time and much space,» Bourque said. «So, I'm not worried about Charlie. This kid just keeps getting better and better.»

Performing during the playoffs isn't easy as you are playing the best teams, but McAvoy still has a lot of room to grow and will get better as he ages.
