Boston Bruins reveal why they kicked this player to the curb
The Boston Bruins have let former prospect Oskar Steen walk in free agency. The Bruins prospect last played in the AHL in Providence.
But they wouldn't offer him another contract, as he signed for five years in the SHL with the hockey club Farjestad.
With his return to the SHL, his time in the NHL is done unless he can find a way to be relevant again.
According to Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, the reason the Bruins moved on from Steen was because of his lack of finishing capabilities:
Former Bruin gave it his best shot. Just not enough of a scoring touch
Steen finished his career in the NHL with 34 games played at the NHL level with the Boston Bruins in 2023-2024, scoring 1 point, with 4 PIMs.
While in the AHL he played 25 games, scoring 16 points(12 G, 4 A) and never found his game.
He'll be a free-agent by the time he's 31 and unless he impresses another NHL GM, his hopes in North America may be done after this.
