A new statement suggests the Boston Bruins are set to demote a defenseman, and it is shocking.

Despite the Boston Bruins originally starting off their first three games of the 2025/26 NHL regular season strong, the organization has now began to struggle.
As the team has now been faced with a five-game losing streak, despite their promising start.
Many have began to speculate that a major reason for the Bruins' current struggle is due to the team's top pairing of Mason Lohrei and Charlie McAvoy.

Boston Bruins' top pairing line speculated to be a major cause of the organization's lack of success

During the Boston Bruins' and Florida Panthers' matchup yesterday, Lohrei was blamed for two goals by head coach, Marco Sturm.
Because of this, Lohrei would play just 13:45 of the game, recording his lowest ice time thus far into the season.
Causeway Crowd's Nate Duffett touched on this subject as well and stated that McAvoy can take some of the blame as well.
«Lohrei is at his best when he has a rock-solid defenseman alongside him. That was the case in the first couple of games, but a switch flipped in McAvoy once Hampus Lindholm exited the lineup and he's now back to trying to do too much. McAvoy is at his best when he settles into the game, plays physical, and makes confident plays with the puck. That isn't the case over the past few games. Duffett stated.

Duffett continued:
«McAvoy's poor play has sent a ripple effect down to Lohrei. Sturm's lack of trust left Lohrei on the bench late in the third period, and it was his replacement, Andrew Peeke, who kicked the puck into his own net to give the Panthers a late lead in heartbreaking fashion. The Bruins' defense has been a mess over the past few games, and it begins and ends with the alleged "top pair".»

Do you think the Boston Bruins' top pairing line, Charlie McAvoy and Mason Lohrei have played a major factor in the organization's recent lack of success?
