Boston Gets A New Hockey Team
The latest addition to professional women's hockey, The PWHL, is gearing up to make its debut with six dynamic teams hailing from prominent cities: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, New York, and Minnesota.
Initially set to divulge further details about this new women's hockey league during a virtual press conference on Tuesday morning, the league's secret has come to light a little earlier than planned.
Keen-eyed observers noticed the emergence of six fresh Twitter accounts adorned with the PWHL brand, unintentionally revealing the lineup of Original Six teams.
Toronto and Montreal, no strangers to women's hockey teams like the Aeros, Sting, Furies, Wingstar/Axion, Jofa Titan, Phénix, and Force, will be home to the fifth professional women's hockey franchise in each city.
Ottawa, with the Raiders and Senators already in the mix, will welcome its third team.
Boston and Minnesota, known for the Pride and Whitecaps respectively, will celebrate their second entries into the professional women's hockey scene.
Most notably, this marks the debut of a professional women's hockey team in New York, a historic moment for the sport in a city where hockey has flourished at various nearby locations such as Buffalo, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
An exciting journey awaits as The PWHL takes its place on the women's hockey stage, with a blend of familiar contenders and fresh contenders ready to showcase their prowess and passion for the game.
