Boston Bruins captain just took accountability for the firing of Jim Montgomery in a recent statement.

Brad Marchand for the first time since the firing of Jim Montgomery finally spoke out, and he took full accountability.

Marchand spoke to the media today and what he had to say was emotional, and just makes you feel bad for Montgomery.

The captain went on to say that if the players would have done there job Jim Montgomery would still be around.

Moreover, he went on to say that the team not only let down a really good head coach, but also a good person.

Here is what Marchand had to say:

Marchand: «If we would've done our job in here, he'd still be around. You feel terrible as a group, individually, that we let a really good coach and really good person down.»

Jim Montgomery was known for having a good personal connection with his players during his time with the Boston Bruins.

Many believed that this was one of the problems on why he wasn't successful this year, and what ultimately led to his firing.

Now the Bruins believe that Sacco, the new head coach for the Boston Bruins, has the right demeanor to lead this team back into a playoff spot.

As of right now the Boston Bruins currently do not sit in a playoff spot, but are currently tied for the second wild card spot with the New York Islanders.

Jim Montgomery's record with the Boston Bruins during his tenure with the team was 120-43-23.

Insane that such a winning coach was fired by an organization due to a rocky start to the year.

The Boston Bruins clearly have a high standard for their team and coach, and that was shown when they fired Jim Montgomery.
