Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy was just called out ahead of the 2025-26 season
The NHL season is right around the corner, and leading up to it, Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy was just called out.
It's almost time for teams to start reporting to training camp, where players will compete for roster spots.
After having a terrible 2024-25 season, the Boston Bruins have some anticipation leading into the new year.
Many are curious to see how recently hired head coach, Marco Sturm can turn the Bruins around after having one of their worst years in recent memory.
With that being said, Charlie McAvoy was just called out, and he has to have a bounce back year for the Bruins.
Charlie McAvoy needs to have a bounce back year
McAvoy needs to be a leader for the Boston Bruins entering the new season after having a short, but horrible season last year.
In 50 games, McAvoy recorded just 23 points with 7 goals and 16 assists.
This was the lowest point total that he recorded in his career so far, but it didn't help that the Bruins had a horrible season, and that he suffered an injury.
Entering the new year, McAvoy is going to be hit with some big minutes, and will also have to mentor young defenseman Mason Lohrei.
Last year, McAvoy continuously was turning the puck over, with 72 giveaways which is something that needs to be improved heading into the new year.
Another thing that McAvoy will have to work hard on is the Bruins power play which has been horrendous for the Bruins.
This past season, McAvoy only had 4 power play points, and the Bruins power play was ranked 29th overall with a 15.2%.
McAvoy is going to have to be a leader for the Bruins next season, and he is also going to have to have a big bounce back year.
