One day after firing head coach Jim Montgomery from the Boston Bruins, General Manager Don Sweeney has sent a major warning to players and the staff.
On Wednesday, the day after firing Jim Montgomery, Don Sweeney met with the media to discuess the reasoning behind the firing, and any other further questions.
While speaking with the media, Don Sweeney made it clear that players have not been playing to potential, and if that continues then more changes will be made.
Sweeney also stated while meeting with the media that the Bruins were in talks with Jim Montgomery regarding a contract extension.
Reportedly there was an extension in place but Jim Montgomery declined it according to reports.
Don Sweeney is currently doing everything in his power to keep his job safe, and that started with a coaching change.
We could see roster moves start happening if the Bruins style of play does not change.
Fans feel like change should have started with Don Sweeney, as this is the second winning coach in the Bruins organization to be fired in a eight-year span.
Don Sweeney also rejected the theory that Jim Montgomery had lost the room this year with the Boston Bruins to reporters.
Now it's time to wait and see if the Boston Bruins play actually does change with the coaching change they made.
