The Boston Bruins are heading into the 2023-24 NHL season with some notable gaps to fill in their center position.

With the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci during the summer break, the team is in search of capable replacements.

While rumors suggest the possibility of acquiring Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm, Bruins' head coach Jim Montgomery seems focused on the in-house options.

In a recent conversation with the Boston Herald, Montgomery shared his confidence in Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha stepping up to the challenge if necessary.

Montgomery emphasized,

«I have a lot of confidence that our top two lines will be very good because I believe Charlie Coyle knows he can do the job and will do the job, and Pavel Zacha does too.»

Particularly, Montgomery had high praise for Pavel Zacha during his interview with the Boston Herald.

He noted, «I think (Zacha's ceiling) is significantly higher He believes that he can do it. That's the biggest step for a player.»

Amidst the offseason trade speculations, Elias Lindholm's name has been a topic of discussion.

It's been reported that Lindholm is not keen on committing to a long-term extension with the Flames.

With his contract expiring at the end of the upcoming season, Lindholm will become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The Boston Bruins have shown interest in Elias Lindholm over the summer months. Recent reports suggest that should Lindholm remain available before the season kicks off in October, the Bruins might reevaluate the potential acquisition.

The Bruins are gearing up to launch their 2023-24 campaign with a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks, led by the young talent Connor Bedard.

Following that, they'll face off against the revamped Nashville Predators, spearheaded by standout defenseman Roman Josi.
