Sports reporter Jason Morrin has revealed a legal dispute involving NHL stars John Carlson and Charlie McAvoy against marketing firm IF Management.

Filed in New York, the lawsuit alleges the unauthorized use of the players' images. Despite being represented by Alexander Aigen until October 2023, IF Management continued to exploit their likenesses without consent.

''Star NHL Defensemen Charlie McAvoy and John Carlson sue IF Management and its owner for alleged false and unauthorized use of their NIL (name, image, likeness). Both players are represented by Alexander Aigen for marketing. Aigen entered into an employment agreement with IF in October, 2022, but was terminated without cause in October, 2023. Carlson and McAvoy allege IF continued to use their likenesses thereafter without permission.''

Carlson and McAvoy expressed a desire to sever ties with IF Management by November 2023.

In January 2024, they formally requested the removal of their images from IF Management's online platforms.

The lawsuit, featuring six complaints, emphasizes the players' pursuit of privacy and proper image usage, rather than seeking monetary damages.
