Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been out of the lineup since January 11th.
He's missed six straight games and has recently been seen skating on the ice. McAvoy was seen skating at practice but has yet to be cleared to play.
Could his absence from the Bruins lineup lead to him missing the Four Nations Face-Off?
The Bruins themselves have missed his presence on the ice, as he's been their top-defenseman. He's played 45 games this season and scored 20 points (5 G, 15 A).
He was expected to play in the Four Nations Face-Off until his upper-body injury occurred on January 11th.
Despite the fact he's skating again, according to NHL Insider Joe Haggerty he won't be ready to face the Buffalo Sabres.
This puts doubts about a return into the middle of February when the 4NFO happens.
The tournament itself, will take place in TD Garden, and the Bell Centre from February 12th to the 20th, 2025.
McAvoy may expect to play during the special best-on-best tournament, but no timeline has been established for his NHL return.
Could there be a replacement in the lineup for McAvoy?
There have been no viable names floated as of yet, should the worst scenario come to pass for Team USA.
However, the Bruins will miss his presence the most.
