This off-season, Don Sweeney ended up making a signing that was very controversial, and fans weren't happy with it, but he is now receiving some praise.

During the off-season, Don Sweeney signed Tanner Jeannot to a five-year, $3.2 million deal.
Many weren't a fan of it at the time, but now it seems like it was a good move by Sweeney.
Last night, the Bruins had another solid game, but once again came up short, losing 6-5 to the Vegas Golden Knights.
But one thing has become clear in the Bruins five games so far: Tanner Jeannot is a great addition for the Bruins.

Tanner Jeannot impressive for the Bruins so far

Jeannot has had an excellent start to his first season with the Boston Bruins, and last night he continued that by scoring another goal, which is his second of the year.
The 28-year-old ended out out-muscling a defender in tight, grabbed the loose puck and scored.
He has also been a great addition to the Bruins penalty kill, who just allowed their first power play goal against last night.
Beyond scoring, he has been making a big impact for the Bruins. Take a look:
NHL GameScore Impact Card for Boston Bruins on 2025-10-16:
This chart shows that he is doing everything above average for the Bruins, and was the 4th best player on the ice last night for them.
Jeannot is also tied for third most hits on the Bruins this year, and second fewest giveaways. So far this season, he hasn't been making mistakes that could hurt the Bruins, but instead doing a lot of the little things right.
He's been solid defensively for the Bruins, and if he can score 15-20 goals for them this year, that would be a solid depth signing by Sweeney.
