Former Boston Bruins fan favourite, Patrick Maroon ended up officially retiring from hockey after playing out this final year, and playing his final game with the Blackhawks just last week. The real reason behind him calling it a career may have just came out.

Maroon ended up catching a lot of people off guard whenever he made the surprise announcement in March, stating he was going to be calling it a career.
"It's tough. Sometimes you've got to give up everything you know and everything you've dreamed of your whole life," Maroon told Blackhawks analyst Darren Pang prior to Chicago's game against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. "I just know it's time for me and it's time for my family to go start a new chapter in our lives."

Maroon stated that his departure from the NHL was going to begin a new chapter of his life, and it looks like he meant it.
His wife Francesca Maroon revealed that they have welcomed baby Estelle Marie Maroon.
"Retirement gift came early

Maroon brought a veteran leadership to his team, and that's why a lot of teams wanted him.
Unfortunately the Chicago Blackhawks ended up mistreating him towards the end of his career, and ultimately he called it a career early.
Congratulations to the Maroon family on their new born!
