A former Boston Bruins fan favorite, Tyler Bertuzzi's career has hit an all-time low as there's been speculation that the Chicago Blackhawks will buy his contract out this summer.

Tyler Bertuzzi found himself as a fan favorite with the Boston Bruins during his short time in TD Garden.
He'd arrive in Boston on March 2nd, 2023, before the trade deadline and would find himself on the same line as Trent Frederic and Charlie Coyle.
He'd only play 28 games total for the Bruins, including seven of those in the playoffs. He'd parlay his performance into a contract with the Maple Leafs, topping his 30-point performance with 40 on a line with Auston Matthews.
He'd soon find himself wearing a Blackhawks crest after he'd earned a raise too rich for the Blackhawks to match and would sign a $5.5 million deal in Chicago.
But now is when the downfall of Bertuzzi's stock has begun, as he's been inconsistent in Chicago. He'd find himself up and down the lineup despite opportunities to play on the first line with generational talent Connor Bedard and Teuvo Teravainen.
Now, according to The Athletic's Mark Lazerus Bertuzzi could end up being bought out by the Blackhawks due to his poor performance.
A buyout would lower Bertuzzi's cap hit to $3.7M, $2.9M, and $2.52M over the next three seasons, then $1.22M for another three years. Brodie's would go down to $3.2M for next year, then just $258,000. As Lazerus notes, "With the cap skyrocketing, it's a minor nuisance, at most."

He's been a healthy scratch for the Hawks by Interim Coach Anders Sorensen for the last nine games, and has played a career-low 15:38 TOI in Chicago.
Buying him out would reduce their liability to Bertuzzi, while providing some abilities to make a big splash with the $32 million they'll have available to spend in July.
