Bruins fans saw a familiar name resurface Saturday as Frank Vatrano discipline headlines crossed the NHL news wire.

The former Boston Bruins winger is back in the spotlight for the wrong reason.
According to a statement from NHL Player Safety, Vatrano was fined $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct stemming from an incident involving Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson. The amount represents the maximum fine allowed under the current collective bargaining agreement.
The league's ruling came Saturday and immediately drew attention because of Vatrano's Bruins ties. Boston fans remember him as a high-energy winger who played with an edge, sometimes walking the fine line between agitation and discipline.
Vatrano, now 31, played parts of four seasons with Boston after being acquired from the Florida Panthers in 2015. He carved out a role as a depth scorer, finishing his Bruins tenure with 37 goals and 30 assists across 156 regular-season games.
Since leaving Boston, Vatrano has bounced around the league and currently suits up for the Anaheim Ducks. His offensive production has remained respectable, but moments like this reinforce how tightly the league polices behavior away from the puck.

Frank Vatrano fined after Jason Robertson incident

The NHL did not issue a suspension, signaling that the incident crossed a conduct line rather than involving a dangerous on-ice play.
Jason Robertson, one of Dallas' most important offensive players, is exactly the type of star the NHL wants protected. When incidents involve marquee names, Player Safety rarely hesitates to make an example.
For Anaheim, the fine does not affect Vatrano's lineup status, but it adds scrutiny. Coaches tend to tolerate edge as long as it does not cost the team, financially or competitively.
