Goodrow had a far lower productive year under head coach Peter Laviolette. Through 80 games played, he only scored four goals with eight assists for 12 points and has 78 penalty minutes. During the playoffs however, he was far more productive as he played sixteen games and scored six goals with two assists for eight points and was a + 3.
Being placed on waivers gives any team in the NHL an opportunity to claim him Andy has three years remaining in his deal that was six years and $21.85 million. He holds a cap hit of $3.641 million per season and could be a good fit for the Bruins as this would not cost them any prospects, draft picks or roster players.
It remains to be seen on whether general manager Don Sweeney would take a chance I'm picking up Goodrow but with the potential loss of Jake Debrusk heading to free agency, Goodrow would give the Bruins cost certainty as they know they would have him locked up for another three years and the cap hit would be modest as he has had far productive seasons prior to this year.
Unrestricted free agency is set to begin on July 1st and expected that Dan Sweeney will be a busy man trying to reconfigure his roster.
