"He should be pissed": Bruins top defenseman punished by Marco Sturm and a statement has been made

Bruce Cassidy, a former head coach of the Bruins, was never scared to bench a player to send a message or call them out to the media, and we are now seeing that with Marco Sturm.
Generally, after benching a player or sending a message through social media, it would give good results. Well, the Bruins are hoping for that with a top defenseman.
Sturm is quietly following Bruce Cassidy's blueprint. Earlier in the season, forwards Casey Mittelstadt and Marat Khusnutdinov were scratched, and it gave good results.
After being scratched, Mittlestadt started to produce on offense, and Khusnutdinov has now been promoted to the Bruins' top line.
Now, Mason Lohrei is getting the same treatment, and the Bruins are hopeful it could give good results as well.
After healthy scratching Lohrei for the third straight game, head coach Marco Sturm sent him a message through the media.
Sturm sends Lohrei a message
Right before the game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Sturm met with the media and explained why Lohrei was benched for a third straight game.
«He should be pissed. He should be very pissed. He should be upset,» said Sturm. «He works hard in practice. He's ready, he's just waiting for his opportunities. I think that's the goal, having him out there and be a little different when he comes back. Watching from upstairs, watching some other players, what they do well, what they do wrong, too. It's a learning process for him right now, and that's why we do it. But when it's his turn, we're hoping he gets better.»
Since being scratched, the Bruins have gone on a solid run, and the numbers don't lie. Without him in the lineup, the Bruins have gone on to win three straight games.
It hasn't been perfect, but Swayman and Korpisalo have come up big for the Bruins during this stretch.
The hope is that Lohrei can respond like Mittelstadt and Khusnutdinov whenever he does return to the lineup.
