After weeks of speculation about the Bruins adding forward depth, new information suggests conversations between the Bruins and Canucks have intensified.

According to NHL insider Jimmy Murphy, the Bruins have circled back on Vancouver winger Kiefer Sherwood and are actively in talks right now. That wording matters. Circling back suggests this is not a first look but a renewed push.
Sherwood fits a profile Boston has quietly targeted all season. He brings speed, physicality, and a relentless forecheck, traits Marco Sturm has emphasized since taking over.
At 29 years old, Sherwood is not a long term project. He is a plug-and-play winger who can immediately impact the bottom or middle of the lineup.
For the Bruins, that kind of addition makes sense as they try to solidify their roster without disrupting chemistry.
Boston has been competitive all season, outperforming expectations, but depth scoring and energy minutes remain areas they could upgrade. That is where Sherwood enters the picture.

Kiefer Sherwood fits Bruins deadline mindset

Sherwood is not a headline star, but he plays the kind of game that tends to matter more in March and April.
He finishes checks, wins puck battles, and can chip in offense without needing top line usage.
That aligns with how the Bruins are built right now, especially with injuries forcing constant lineup shuffles.
Murphy also floated another name in the same breath, Mason Marchment, but Sherwood feels like the cleaner fit given Boston's current needs and cap situation.
The Canucks, meanwhile, are in sell mode. Moving depth pieces like Sherwood is logical as they continue reshaping their roster.
Timing also plays a role. With the trade freeze approaching, teams often accelerate discussions to avoid delays. That could explain why talks are heating up now.
Nothing is finalized, and trades can stall quickly, but this feels more concrete than casual speculation. The Bruins are not just monitoring. They are engaging.
If a deal comes together, it would signal Boston's intent to reinforce a roster that believes it can keep winning.
