In a disheartening performance tonight, the Boston Bruins were decisively defeated by the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of their Round 2 Stanley Cup Playoff series.
This victory marks the Panthers' second consecutive win over the Bruins, giving them a 2-1 lead in the series.
Following the game, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery addressed the media, taking full responsibility for the team's lackluster performance.
"It's not good enough. We didn't play well enough, that's why I take the responsibility," Montgomery stated, emphasizing the need for a better game plan. "I don't think we're on top of our game. Our execution, to be honest, in the last two games and the last two periods of the last two games and first two periods of tonight hasn't been good enough, and that's why I say it's my fault. I gotta be better."
After taking accountability Jim Montgomery pointed fingers towards the whole Bruins team.
When pressed about the team's lack of engagement until the Panthers had already secured a significant lead, Montgomery expressed his frustration and confusion.
"I don't know," he said, simply. "It's not good enough, that's all I know. Florida was good and we weren't. We move on to the next game....we're going to get a good night's sleep, come to the rink tomorrow and be better."
The Bruins now look ahead to Game 4, hoping to rebound and even the series. The next matchup is scheduled for this Sunday evening, starting at 6:30 PM EST, where the Bruins will aim to display improved execution and engagement right from the puck drop.
