According to NHLtraderumors the Ottawa Senators have brought in a former teammate of Linus Ullmark.
NHLtraderumors reported that the Ottawa Senators have signed veteran goaltender Dustin Tokarski to a professional tryout contract.
Dustin Tokarski did not appear in any NHL games during the 2023-24 season, but is looking to change that this year after signing a professional tryout contract with the Ottawa Senators.
Tokarski has never played a full season in the NHL, but has played parts in nine seasons, and the 35-year old is looking to possibly change that by beating out Mads Sogaard for the backup role.
Linus Ullmark and Dustin Tokarski are now reunited after playing together for the Buffalo Sabres in the 2020-21 season. During that season Ullmark appeared in 20 games, and Tokarski appeared in 13.
Last year, Dustin Tokarski spent the whole year in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans, and according to hockeydb.com he had a record of 11-9-3, with a 3.32 GAA, and a .897 SV%.
Not the greatest numbers especially playing in the AHL, if Tokarski is going to want to earn a NHL contract from his professional tryout contract, he is going to have to be much better then that.
The Ottawa Senators have 6 goaltenders fighting for a position, Linus Ullmark, Anton Forsberg, Leevi Merilainen, Michael Simpson, Mads Sogaard, and Dustin Tokarski.
