The Vancouver Canucks have been looking for some goaltending depth for some time now, and just announced the signing of Kevin Lankinen.
Elliotte Friedman broke the news to X (twitter) stating that the two sides have finally come to an agreement on a one-year contract at $875,000.
Earlier in the off-season the Vancouver Canucks had offered him a similar contract, but Lankinen rejected it as he thought he could get more money on a deal.
Kevin Lankinen spent his first two years in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks before going to the Nashville Predators the last two years where he would put up a 2.79 GAA and a .912 SV% in 43 games. It's surprising that he didn't get many offers with having a solid stat line like that for being a second string goaltender.
The Canucks now have the depth that they wanted with Thatcher Demko still dealing with injuries.
Do you think the Vancouver Canucks will be a contender this year?
