The Boston Bruins Organization Has Announced And Confirmed A Signing

GM Don Sweeney added some depth to the Boston Bruins organization today, as he signed Chris Ortiz.
Chris Ortiz was signed by the Boston Bruins today, to a professional try-out. The deal will see him placed in the AHL with the Providence Bruins.
This is a huge step-up for Ortiz who has worked himself up into the professional ranks of hockey.
Earlier in the season he signed a contract with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, where he'd played 45 games and scored 39 points (4G, 35 A).
While he'd only play 1 game with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he gets another shot in the AHL. And a chance to earn a spot in the NHL, if he can work his way up the depth charts.
For now, it seems his role will to serve as a call-up, and with hope mature his game as the Bruins refill their pipeline with fresh blood.
Ortiz was a QMJHL product before deciding to turn pro in 2021-2022, which saw him put on the WBS Penguins uniform.
Prior to turning pro, the Boisbriand, Quebec native played four seasons of junior hockey with the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League's Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
In 2023-2024 he'd play 69 games with the Trois-Rivieres Lions and would score 37 points (4 G, 33 A).
Ortiz has reached the postseason twice in his three seasons, and has 11 points in 17 playoff contests to go along with his 112 points in 190 career regular season games, counting both AHL and ECHL.
The Providence Bruins have given him a PTO in the hopes he can earn a spot in the lineup, and provide the kind of offense that has found him success in both the ECHL and AHL during his short career.
