Hard to ignore the noise now: Kiefer Sherwood might have a new home, and the cost is steep.

Per insider David Pagnotta, the asking price for Sherwood is «a first-round pick plus.» That suggests any team chasing him - possibly Boston Bruins - would have to give up big draft capital.

Sherwood has been lighting it up so far in 2025-26 with 12 goals in 25 games, while still delivering his trademark physicality with league-leading hits.
That production gives him huge leverage ahead of unrestricted free agency next summer.
The fact the price is «first-round plus» is telling. It stands above the typical mid-round compensation that often accompanies depth-forward trades.
It signals that Sherwood is being valued not just as a grinder, but as a forward who could contribute offensively and in heavy minutes.

Bruins chase impact winger with real cost

From a Boston fan's angle, this kind of return feels more like what you'd pay for a top-six forward - not a gritty depth winger.
Sherwood at 30 and on pace for a career year could give the Bruins a shot of energy and goals, but parting with a first-rounder stings.
For his part, Sherwood has drawn interest league-wide: his combination of speed, physicality and scoring gives him value many teams covet at the deadline, and the Bruins have reportedly been interested.
And with the Vancouver Canucks reportedly hesitant to extend him despite a strong start, he looks like legitimate trade bait.
Turns out the price reflects the expectations: high reward if Sherwood can provide the kind of two-way push Bruins fans hope for.
At the same time, that first-rounder plus signals serious investment. If Boston really jumps in, it's time to pay attention.
