Entering last night's game against the Buffalo Sabres, the Bruins turned back to Korpisalo in net for his first start since being pulled against the Ottawa Senators.

With Boston riding a four-game losing streak, the message was clear. This was a chance to steady things.
The opening period actually suggested that might happen. Boston played a simpler game, limited chances against, and carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. For a team searching for confidence, that start mattered.
Then the second period arrived, and everything flipped. Buffalo scored three goals on just six shots in a span of 6:15, completely changing the tone of the game and the building.
Suddenly, a one-goal lead became a two-goal deficit, and the Bruins were chasing again. The Sabres smelled blood, while Boston looked deflated almost instantly.
Sabres with 3 goals, 6 shots, 6:15. Now with 3-1 lead.

Joonas Korpisalo's time may be coming to an end

From a fan and analyst perspective, this was the type of stretch Korpisalo simply could not afford. Fair or not, goaltending moments define stretches like this, and the Bruins needed saves to stop the bleeding. They did not get them.
This was not all on Korpisalo, but it was another night where he could not be the difference maker. When your team is struggling, average is not enough.
Buffalo closed out the game with a 4-1 win, handing the Bruins their fifth straight loss. What started as a manageable night turned ugly in a hurry.
The frustration around Korpisalo continues to grow. After being pulled earlier in the week, this start was supposed to be a response. Instead, it added to the concern.
The Bruins now head deeper into a critical stretch with little momentum and even fewer answers. For Korpisalo, the pressure only intensifies.
