The Toronto Maple Leafs have replaced Marc Savard with Steve Sullivan, and Boston Bruins fans cannot help but notice.

The Leafs fired assistant coach Marc Savard on Monday, a quick and blunt move that screams impatience when results are not matching expectations.
Savard's exit came after Toronto's sluggish start to the season, and when the heat rises in that market, the coaching staff is usually the first target.
On Friday, the Leafs officially filled the vacancy by hiring Steve Sullivan as an assistant coach, bringing him up from the Toronto Marlies.
It is a clean replacement on paper, but it also closes a pretty rough chapter for Savard, a former Bruins fan favorite who once lit up the Garden with his hands and vision.

As a Bruins fan, it's heartbreaking seeing Savard's name attached to another firing, even if it's the usual hockey cycle.
Sullivan walks into a role that is about details, not speeches, and Toronto will want quicker puck movement and cleaner spacing, especially on special teams, where changes show up fastest.
The tough truth is Savard will wear this publicly, even though coaching problems are rarely just one person, and player execution usually tells the real story.
For Toronto, the hire signals urgency, and it also signals a desire for a different voice that can land with a room that has heard plenty already.
For Boston fans watching from the outside, it is another reminder that beloved Bruins alumni do not always get gentle endings, even when they gave you unforgettable nights.
Now the question is whether Sullivan's presence actually changes outcomes, or if this is just the first domino in a longer season of blame.
Either way, Savard's story is not finished, and Bruins fans will still be rooting for him to land on his feet.
