This morning it was announced that the Toronto Maple Leafs are set to get a massive boost to their lineup ahead of their rivalry game against the Boston Bruins tonight.
Since before the NHL went on their holiday break around Christmas time last year, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been without the services of captain Auston Matthews, and a report revealed today that he will now be drawing back into the lineup for the Maple Leafs to faceoff against their biggest rival, the Boston Bruins.
Before it was even confirmed, the Maple Leafs received good news when Auston Matthews was present on the ice for the morning skate with his teammates. He was a full participant in the practice this morning.
While the Leafs were practicing, Matthews was taking reps with the Leafs top power play unit, which was a clear sign he was going to be back in the lineup tonight.
At the end of the morning skate, Auston Matthews was the player leading the stretches, and then received stick taps from his teammates, another indication he would be returning to the lineup.
Following practice, Auston Matthews was the man that confirmed his return to the lineup as he informed reporters that he was indeed dressing for the game tonight against the Boston Bruins.
Chris Johnston also confirmed this as well:
