Sometimes the door opens sooner than expected, and Fabian Lysell might finally be standing right in front of it for the Bruins.

With Viktor Arvidsson leaving Thursday's game in Winnipeg because of a lower body injury, attention shifted immediately toward the next man up.
Lysell has pushed for this moment all year. The 22 year old winger is delivering his most complete AHL season, stacking production with pace and showing the creativity that made him a first round pick.
His growth has been exactly what the Bruins hoped for when they sent him to Providence to reset his offensive game and tighten his details away from the puck.
That is why fans lit up last night when the injury news dropped. Many remembered how fun the Casey Mittelstadt, Pavel Zacha and Lysell line looked late last season, and the idea of reviving that trio quickly resurfaced.

Fabian Lysell may get his shot with the Boston Bruins

Arvidsson's absence creates a real lineup gap. He has been a glue piece in Boston's top six, scoring 15 points and driving entries with consistency. Losing that speed is noticeable, and the Bruins need someone who can stretch defenses while keeping their structure intact. Lysell fits that profile, and more importantly, he has earned the opportunity.
This group has prided itself on internal competition, and Lysell has outplayed nearly every Providence forward entering mid December.
His nine points in ten games highlight scoring touch, while his improved commitment on retrievals makes him more trustworthy at the NHL level.
If the Bruins want a player who can elevate skill without sacrificing pace, this may be the cleanest solution. It is now about timing, Arvidsson's evaluation, and whether Boston feels ready to push a promising young winger into a bigger role.
Lysell has done his part. Now the decision rests with management as the Bruins prepare for their next stretch of games.
