The Bruins became the 4th team in league history to win 60 games, but Wayne Gretzky shared a strong message for them while on the NHL on TNT panel on Sunday.
'The Great One' has done and won everything that a hockey players dreams of, and because of that, he knows how special this Boston team is. However, will it all be pointless if they fail to win the Stanley Cup?
Cup or Bust?
Gretzky has often served as an analyst on the NHL on TNT panel since 2021, and happened to be present while the channel aired the Bruins and Blues game on Sunday. According to Joe Haggerty of Boston Hockey Now, Gretzky had nothing but praise for the team:
''This team is playing a good hockey club every single night. There's no days off; there's no nights off, every game is hard. What they're doing to me in this year is absolutely amazing.''
Despite his admiration, Gretzky also thinks it should be ''Cup or Bust'' for Jim Montgomery's squad this season:
''Listen, it's almost like you feel bad for them if they don't win the Stanley Cup because they've done so many good things for the game, and they've played so unselfishly, and they're so much fun to watch, you know, you almost feel mad if they don't win the Stanley Cup.''
Gretzky makes an excellent point, because it would be extremely disappointing if this team can't go all the way. However, the 2022-23 Bruins are three wins and eight points away from becoming THE BEST team in NHL history.
