The Leafs are getting a taste of the Panthers' physicality that the Bruins felt in the first round, but forward Sam Bennett went too far in game two.

Player Safety Steps In

After a rough affair in game two from Toronto, the NHL's Player Safety Department announced discipline on Bennett for his high cross check to Michael Bunting.

''Florida's Sam Bennett has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Cross-checking against Toronto's Michael Bunting.''

The maximum fine was for the following play on Bunting in the second period:

It's definitely not the dirtiest cross check the league has seen but it's also a play that we need to see less of. Whether the stick rode up the shoulder pads or not, players have to be in control of their sticks.

On the other hand, it is Michael Bunting in the opposing end of the hit so you never know how bad it really was with his acting.
