The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting a first-hand look at what surprised the Bruins in the opening round, as they find themselves unexpectedly in a 2-0 deficit to the Panthers in round two.
The same things that got Florida passed Boston are helping them beat the Maple Leafs: capitalizing on the opposition's turnovers and elite goaltending from former Vezina-winner Sergei Bobrovsky.
Tensions Boil Over
At the other end of the ice, Toronto netminder Ilya Samsonov has somewhat struggled in the series. It was evident at his team's practice on Saturday morning, as cameras caught Samsonov letting out some frustration after a goal against.
This comes after his expletive comments after Toronto's game two loss at home when he was asked about his counterpart's phenomenal play against the Leafs so far.
Samsonov carries a 3.67 GAA and a .877 SV% through the first two games of the series, while for comparison, Bobrovsky has a 2.01 GAA and a .944 SV%.
* Game three of the series is set for Sunday night at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
