Boston Bruins announce a key player has left the game with a lower-body injury: Will not return
The Boston Bruins just announced that a key player has left the game with a lower-body injury and is not going to return to the game.
Entering their game, the Bruins made some lineup changes, and one of them was Matej Blumel coming back into the lineup.
Well, not long into the game, Blumel ended up suffering a lower-body injury.
Bruins confirm Blumel will not return
The Bruins announced that Blumel suffered a lower-body injury early into the game and will not return tonight.
UPDATE: Matej Blumel (lower-body) will not return to tonight's game.
With him not returning to the game, the injury must be pretty serious. This comes at such a bad time, considering the Bruins are already dealing with a list of injuries right now.
This may explain why early on into the game, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm placed Morgan Geekie back on the top line with Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak.
Geekie already back with 18-88. We'll see if it sticks
Tonight was the first game back into the lineup for Blumel after he was a healthy scratch in their previous game against the San Jose Sharks.
Marco Sturm reunited the Czech line with Blumel, Zacha, and Pastrnak, but that did not last long.
The Bruins are now without Charlie McAvoy, Casey Mittelstadt, Viktor Arvidsson, and Jordan Harris, and now Matej Blumel is added to that list.
It's unclear whether or not he is going to be out long-term, or it's just for precautionary reasons, but stay tuned for further details.
