The Laval Rockets faced a challenging start to their American Hockey League game on Wednesday. However, as the first period came to a close, a truly unexpected event unfolded.

With the Rochester Americans holding a 3-0 lead in the waning moments of the first period, they opted to pull their goalie due to a delayed penalty. In a bizarre turn of events, Filip Cederqvist inadvertently scored in his own empty net on a centering pass. Since Rocket goaltender Strauss Mann was the last to touch the puck, he was credited with the goal.

This unusual occurrence provided Mann with a unique opportunity to celebrate with his teammates. It's a moment that certainly stands out, and one can only hope such a scenario remains a rarity, especially in the NHL. Nevertheless, the Laval Rockets, affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens, and the Rochester Americans, the farm team of the Buffalo Sabres, treated fans to this extraordinary feat!
