The Boston Bruins were heavily linked to the Edmonton Oilers and forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins over the last couple of days.
However that rumour seems to have been debunked as it had Torey Krug going the other way, but it's been revealed that Edmonton is actually one of the teams on Krug's no trade clause.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has linked the Bruins to a different forward in his latest "31 Thoughts" column.
Friedman points to Los Angeles Kings veteran forward Jeff Carter.
The 33 year old forward lacks trade protection and seems to be available with the Kings struggling and possibly looking to rebuild.
Carter has a $5.2million cap hit through the 2021-22 season, and while he's up there in age and struggling this season he's been an almost point per game player over the last couple of years.
After missing significant time to injury last season, Carter put up 22 points in 27 games which included 13 goals.
