Before the Taylor Hall trade yesterday, the big story was that Ilya Kovalchuk had walked away from the Los Angeles Kings who eventually put him on waivers.
Both sides had decided to terminate Kovalchuk's contract which makes him a free agent eligible to sign with any team.
According to one report, the Bruins are already showing interest in the 36 year old forward.
Respected KHL insider, Igor Eronko, reports that Kovalchuk wants to sign with a contender and would accept minimum salary.
The Bruins were originally in the race to land Kovalchuk when he was a free agent during the summer of 2018.
