It took longer than expected this summer, but Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney eventually got both Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo under contract.
Sweeney has another big contract situation on his hands as
Torey Krug has been eligible for a contract extension since the summer.
While Sweeney was a bit reluctant at first to begin negotiations, Krug put some pressure on the Bruins publicly talking about the situation a couple of times that started negotiations a bit.
Krug has stated this is likely the biggest contract of his life and a lot of factors will go into his decision. He's mentioned he'd be open to possibly taking a hometown discount but made it clear his decision will also be a family decision and what's best for his future.
Shinzawa cites sources that believe Krug wants to play for his hometown team and the Red Wings would welcome him with open arms. Krug also played for Wings coach Jeff Blashill in the USHL.
Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman is revamping his roster and Krug would fit in as the perfect power play quarterback.
