Last week a struggling Ryan Donato was sent down to Providence of the AHL to find his game and boost his confidence up.

The forward so far has one point in two games, the same point production the 22 year old had in 11 games in the NHL so far this season.

It was a little disappointing after the youngster put up nine points in 12 games during his NHL debut last season.

Torey Krug spoke with Donato before he left the team to join Providence and explained that being sent down at 22 wasn't a bad thing.

"I let him know that it was the best thing that ever happened to me, was going to play in the AHL," Krug said. "I hope he's taking it with the right attitude. I let him know to go fine-tune your skills and get better at the things you need to get better at and next time you get called up hopefully it's the last time.

"I've always thought everyone should play a little bit in the American League," Krug added. "It teaches you a lot about how to be a professional. The ins and outs of the daily work that goes into the work habits that you develop over the years that correspond with what you're doing at the NHL level."

Krug played 63 games in the AHL during the 2012-13 season and registered 45 points in 63 games which included 13 goals.
