Arizona Coyotes arena situation keeps getting more embarrassing

The Arizona Coyotes announced back in February that they would be playing out of Arizona State University Sun Devils' new multipurpose arena for the 2022-23 NHL season. They also said they will play all their home games there through the 2024-25 season, with an option for the 2025-26 season.

The Coyotes need a new home as the 2021-22 season was the last on their lease at Gila River Arena after the city of Glendale declared that it would be the team's final season in the building. Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo submitted a $1.7 billion arena and entertainment complex plan to the city of Tempe, Arizona, back in September of 2021.

The move has heard a lot of doubt from around the NHL and its fans because the capacity of the ASU facility is expected to be around 5,000 seats. However, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman believes there is a chance the move to the smaller venue could actually be a good financial option for the Coyotes.

Let's be honest, though, it's embarrassing for the Arizona Coyotes, and it should be embarrassing for the league. But it got even more embarrassing after the news that broke on Tuesday, May 17th.



It appears that the Arizona Coyotes won't even be able to put their logo on the ice, as Arizona State's logo will be at centre ice instead. All-in-all, it's actually pretty funny, but there comes the point where you should just relocate a team instead of going through all of this.
